History in the making...

Ah.. I have had so many things on my mind lately that I have wanted to blog about, yet I haven’t gotten any of it done!  That’s what life with baby does to you!  I wouldn’t change it for a thing though. J

Maybe I’ll start with what is freshest on my mind.  Osama bin Laden.  We got him!  Thank you to our Navy SEALS to risked their lives to storm that compound.  The world now has one less terrorist to worry about. But sadly enough, he wasn’t the only one and I fear what retaliation might follow this. Yes, it’s great he is gone, but we need to be vigilant.  Let us celebrate this as a victory against the war on terrorism.

I think the news will be interesting to watch over the next few days.  New details seem to be coming out by the minute. Things that were originally reported, most likely in haste, are changing. They said he hid behind one of his wives, and I guess that’s not true. They said he was involved in a firefight, but I guess he was unarmed (but he still resisted and others had weapons).

You know, every minute we’re alive is history in the making. Just some moments are more important than others.  I wonder what the full story about this will be in the text books years down the road (or in the text files on iPods and notepads… I have a feeling textbooks will fall by the wayside soon)... LOL  Will whatever medium history students are using have photos of bin Laden’s corpse? Will they have the videos from the SEALS helmet cams?  It’s interesting to think about, isn’t it?

I did not lose anyone in 9/11, but I felt the aftermath, most significantly when Jonathan went to Iraq from Sept 2003 – Sept 2004.  As happy as I am that he is gone, I cannot imagine what those who were directly affected (as in lost someone in the Twin Towers) feel.  I do know that some of them are questioning if it’s real or not. We’ve been told that there is DNA evidence, but it seems to be the general consensus is people want to see photos of his corpse.  As sick as that may seem, I understand why.  We’ve been told in the past that bin Laden was gone.  Granted, this time, at least to me, it seems real.  I guess we’ll see. Do you think they’ll release the photos?
