7 Months!

7 months…
Yup, Riley is now 7 months old! 7 months and 4 days to be exact.  And guess what! Besides solids, which I make for him, all he gets is breast milk!  He had his weight check Monday. He was 15 lbs, 1 oz, so he put on 1 lb and .5 oz in a month’s time as compared to the 1 lb he put on in 2 months’ time before. He moved up about a percent or so on the weight chart. Dr. Heger said he certainly had fat on him, so we really don’t need to worry. I just have a little guy. And frankly, I don’t mind. He won’t be little forever!  That brings a song to mind…
Let Them Be Little as sung by Lonestar…
I can remember when you fit in the palm of my hand
Felt so good in it, no bigger than a minute
How it amazes me, you’re changing with every blink
Faster than a flower blooms they grow up all too soon.

So, let them be little, ‘cause they’re only that way for a while
Give them hope, give them praise, give them love every day
Let them cry, let them giggle, let them sleep in the middle
Oh just let them be little.

I’ve never felt so much in one little tender touch
I live for htose kisses, prayers and your wishes
Now that you’re teaching me things only a child can see
Every night while we’re on our knees all I ask is please

Let them be little, ‘cause they’re only that way for a while
Give them hope, give them praise, give them love every day
Let them cry, let them giggle, let them sleep in the middle
Oh just let them be little.

So innocent, a precious soul, you turn around
It’s time to let them go.

So, let them be little, ‘cause they’re only that way for a while
Give them hope, give them praise, give them love every day
Let them cry, let them giggle, let them sleep in the middle
Oh just let them be little.

Let them be little.

I have always loved that song, but now it means so much more than it did before. At the rate time seems to be moving right now, Riley will be headed off to preschool next week! LOL! Thankfully that isn’t the case, but he’s going to be 1 before we know it.

I do look forward to all of his milestones.  These days he makes me melt with his facial expressions and babbling. One day he’s going to make me melt when he says, “I love you, mommy.”

Lately he’s been on a “spitting” kick.  He did it the other night when I was feeding him some Gerber puffs. I got it on video.

This week has been a long one; probably because I’m so anxious for the end of the school year.  Next week I work every day, 8-4:30 (yay, no late Wednesday night!) and then I’m off for a week. This summer will be a little bit of work here and there. I’ll be working 9a – 1p Monday through Thursday, 4 different weeks.  It will be so nice to have so much time at home with Riley.

Tonight is graduation for ECCELL.  One student, in particular, that is graduating, has been with the program since the year I started. I am so incredibly proud of her. It’s going to be sad not having her around next year as she is such a ray of sunshine, but her getting her diploma is such an incredible achievement!

Well, that’s it for now. Sometime here soon I want to post a blog about making your own baby food.  I have a friend who has shared baby food recipes with our mommy group and she hopes to post those on her blog soon. Those I will link to if she doesn’t mine, but I want to share some of the basics here. Hopefully I can get that up within the next day or two. J

  3. Sounds like he's growing well!! Were you concerned with his weight before? All my kids started to slow down in growth a bit as they approached their first year. Did you know there's actually a seperate growth chart for breastfed babies?

The video is super duper cute! As soon as Katie heard a baby on the computer, she came running over to see. :)

  5. He's such a doll! Man I hate not being able to come down and see him and you all! Plus it makes it worse that I keep getting sick whenever someone visits us. =(
Give him lots of love from Auntie Val!!!! =)
